Overview of the Intertestamental Period

Date: 26 Sep 2020 (Sat)
Time: 10.00 am to 12.00 pm
Instructor: Andrew Wee

This sharing is to bring to light what took place during the 400 years of seemingly silence of God between the Old and the New Testament. We will cover 6 important historical periods to grasp some understanding of what God has done and how He has prepared a way, and set the stage for the arrival of the promised Messiah. Familiarizing ourselves with the Intertestamental Period will give us contextual understanding of the many teachings in the New Testament. We can also witness the fulfillment of the prophecies written years before the events took place so that our faith in God can be strengthened and our trust in His Word can be firmly established.

Coping with the loss of someone or something you loved is one of life’s most common and biggest challenge. Dealing with loss by unforeseen or foreseen circumstances can both be an emotional and physical ordeal for an individual and their families.

The course seeks to train helpers to better relate to the mind, needs and state of the ones experiencing loss. It examines how the psychological and physiological are linked to the different stages of loss; and with this knowledge, helps develop essential strategies for self-care when journeying with people suffering from loss and grief.  It is designed to help develop intervention skills to help yourself, your friends and those in need in the church and community.

God did not design ministry for just a few with seminary degrees. At CMC, we believe that every member of our church is a minister. During this course you will learn how God can use your Spiritual Gifts, your Heart (passions), your Abilities, your Personality and your Experiences to minister to the needs of others. When you chose to follow Christ, you were given special abilities, known as Spiritual Gifts. God gave you these gifts for you to use to build up His Church. God also gave you passion for particular activities and subject. Having the heart for specific things, people or circumstances is to be used to guide us into a ministry that we really care about.

In these sessions, you will be shown how to assess your abilities, gifts and passions to see where in ministry you may be fitted to serve.

*Limited to 20 participants only per class

Hearing God

Dates: 31 Oct & 7 Nov 2020 (Sat)
Time: 1.00 pm to 3.30 pm
Instructor: Rupert Lim

We often hear believers make this statement; “How do I hear God?” Many of us want to be led by the Lord, we want to hear what He has to say about our situations, we want to get directions from Him pertaining to the things in our lives like our finances, our children and our work but somehow do not know how to hear Him. With all the noise that we get bombarded with in our world today, and the many things that are out to grab our attention, it is getting increasingly challenging to recognize what God is saying to us.

The good news is, God is speaking and He wants to speak to us. It is not His desire that we should go through life blindly making decisions or relying on our own abilities. In this course, we will look at the how (practical ways), the why, the hindrances and pitfalls involved in learning to hear God.
